    A General Introduction

Wednesday, December 5, 2007, 03:47 AM GMT [General]

Hi everybody! (Chorus: Hi Dr. Nick!)

I thought I should probably introuce myself, so here goes.

My name is Claire, I'm Irish-American (in that I was born and live in Ireland and hold both an Irish and US. passport, not that my great-great granny's best friend's cat was Irish), I'm 21 and currently in my first year in University. I'm studying Undenominated Science in National University of Ireland (NUI) and hoping to become a pharmacologist, toxicologist or anatomist. Preferably the first one.

I grew up a Roman Catholic but just before my confirmation realised I really didn't believe all of that stuff. I was too afraid to tell my parents as my mother especially is a devout Catholic. Turns out, they don't really mind! I began practising Wicca at the age of about 12 without really knowing what I was doing, I had never heard of Wicca before. I just knew I liked doing my own rituals and praying to a Deity I couldn't really visualise but could sense...somehow.

I'm living in Galway for college most of the time, but spend a lot of time back in Dublin visiting my friends, family and boyfriend. (Well really it's cuz my boyfriend's housemate/my friend got a kitten before I left and I'm still working on the perfect kitten-napping lol)

I've gone through LOTS of stuff, maybe more than someone my age usually does. The bright side of all that is I can usually empathise (rather than sympathise) with what most people are going through.

I'm eclectic, the Wiccan version of bisexual (which incidentally, I am). Athena is my patron Goddess, I have no idea why, you'll have to ask Her. I'm interested in healing mostly. I haven't really found a niche yet. Maybe I won't, who knows? What I am NOT interested in is as follows:

Pagan's with ridiculous craft names like "Lady ButtercupMystikAngel The Third"

People who insist on consulting their tarot cards, guardian angel or resident fairy instead of going out and actually fixing the problem, eg. a broken toe, flat tire, impending eviction.

Anyone online who types LiKE ThIs or writes stuff like "kewl!!". I understand the occasional typos, but this is taking the piss.

And if you send me any pictures of fairies, angels or a chain letter (or tell me I'm going to hell, which I don't think will happen here!), please expect two of my fingers up your nose trying to touch your brain, and two more in your eyesockets attempting the same. It must be in there somewhere.

To quote Bobs "So....it's the "Fluffy-Bunny" branch of Wicca that upsets you"

    Otherwise, I'm lovely. Really.

Hi, I think you have to be the only Irish-American I have ever met who actually has a claim at the Irish part. Thanks for proving that real Irish-Americans are just slightly less rare than unicorn sightings in Belfast.
